The Brief:

Create an identity that is fun, personable and sets Bates Studio apart as a creative office fit out team, that will rival major city competitors

Kent-based family business, Bates Office, has grown and diversified over more than 50 years in the office stationery industry. Most recently creating high-performance workspaces, considering their client’s culture, heritage and purpose.

In its current form BATES offer a holistic “start with the end in mind” approach, from an initial discovery meeting, concepts and ideas, to sourcing and fitting state-of-the-art, sustainable, productive work/living spaces.

As the office fit out part of the business continued to grow it became crystal clear they now had two completely different business models within BATES, and so BATES STUDIO was born …

The Outcome

A brand that uses bold colours and playful lettering to bring the creativity of the business through. Professional photography and relatable lifestyle imagery was introduced to bring a personable side to the business.

We had to change the narrative from a stationer who just sells furniture to being very interior design focused. Under the Bates Office brand, we couldn’t reach that next level, but now a lot of markets have opened up for us.

We’ve ended up with a very fun and energetic brand which is shown through the colours and the boldness of the imagery and fonts.

We weren’t sure what to expect from the process, but BISON helped us through from creation to launching the brand. We loved being presented with our options; exploring which way we could take the business and how each design could shape us in a different way. We felt really looked after and, most importantly, we got value for money and a great product at the end of it.
