As the year draws to a close, it feels natural to take stock of what keeps BISON moving forward with purpose. While many businesses wrap their identity in a set of top down, neatly packaged statements, our values have always taken a different path. They were never written in a boardroom or squeezed out through buzzwords. They were built by us, for us.

They have grown from the way we work together, the way we treat each other, and the way we want to keep showing up. They are not theoretical or decorative. They are a working tool, and they shape every decision we make. Each day, we ask a simple question: does this move us closer to who we are, or does it move us away? It is a grounding test that keeps us honest, aligned, and evolving.

A big part of keeping those values alive is a ritual we have protected for more than a decade. Called Word of the Week, it is a straightforward idea that has proved remarkably powerful. Each week, we bring one of our core values into focus, letting it sit at the centre of our conversations and actions. It is a reminder that culture is not something to be remembered occasionally. It is something to be practised daily.

Every morning, during our BISON KATA on the shop floor, the team gathers to share two things. First, something they are grateful for. Second, a real moment from the last 24 hours that shows the week’s value in action. These moments can be small or significant. What matters is that they are real. They build a shared awareness of how our behaviour shapes our environment. Over time, this rhythm has become the heartbeat of our culture.

As we move into the final stretch of the year, these practices feel more important than ever. The end of the year naturally brings reflection, but it also brings momentum. Next week marks the start of a fresh cycle for us, a final push before the holidays and a chance to carry our values with even greater clarity. It is a moment to reconnect not only with what we do, but why we do it.

Looking towards 2026, we want to keep leaning into the qualities that define us at our best. Curiosity, ownership, craft, honesty, and collective pride. These are not just words on a wall, but behaviours we commit to daily. They help us stay adaptable, stay human, and stay driven by something deeper than targets alone.

As we prepare for what comes next, we do so with the same mindset that has guided us for more than ten years. Stay grounded in who we are, stay open to what we can become, and keep showing up in a way that strengthens our culture rather than diluting it. If we carry that forward into 2026, the work will follow.
